3D Imaging (ConeBeam CT)
3D Imaging — Dental Studio
Dental cone beam computed tomography CT is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. Your doctor may use this technology to produce three-dimensional images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan. With cone beam CT, an x-ray beam in the shape of a cone is moved around the patient to produce a large number of images. This makes it much easier to analyze the issue and make an accurate diagnosis, allowing for successful treatment planning and completion. Using a small radiographic camera that is only slightly larger than a pen, we capture images of each tooth. This technology eliminates the need for developing or chemical processing of the images. Instead, they appear instantly on a computer screen as each scan is complete.
How Facial Imaging Technology Is Enhancing Oral Care
Facial imaging technology at one time was used only in hospital settings, but now certain oral and maxillofacial surgeons are using this software in everyday office setting s. In years past, oral surgeons and dentists relied primarily on X -rays to deliver images of the jawbone and teeth. A computed tomography CT scan is different.
We're excited to offer the most advanced imaging process in dentistry: ConeBeam CT scanning, or 3D imaging. This technology allows us to create virtually unlimited views of your teeth, face, and neck with just one scan. We're able to obtain high-quality, detailed information to diagnose and plan your treatment needs. We can evaluate your teeth and facial structures from literally every angle, in 3D, and in color! Routine x-rays, on the other hand, produce a single flat image with limited information.
