Bladder infections and oral sex
Urinary tract infections often come with a lot of burning questions pun intended including: Can you have sex with a UTI? Everyone can agree that urinary tract infections are obnoxious. One of the only things I hate more than that telltale burning urge to pee is when my UTI takes it a step further and stymies my sex life. A UTI is an infection in any part of your urinary tract.

Can You Have Sex with a UTI? Transmission, Effect on Recovery, More
I had an urinary tract infection four years ago. Now every time my boyfriend performs oral sex I feel slight symptoms of cystitis a few hours later. It does not sound as if you are developing cystitis every time you have oral sex performed on you, but common sense advice still applies here. Always try to pass water before going to sleep after intercourse or oral sex as this will flush away any bacteria that may have been forced into your urinary system during sex. Drink a glass of cranberry juice every day as this will keep your urine clean and bacteria-free and avoid using things like bubble bath or vaginal deodorants since these are often highly irritant. I am sure that simple measures such as these will help greatly. Also remember that your boyfriend should never perform oral sex on you if he has cold sores around his mouth or any sensation of tingling on his lips, which may indicate an early cold sore infection.
Hutcherson on UTIs and Oral Sex
Menopause includes the loss of estrogen , which leads to the thinning of urogenital tissues--which include the vagina, vulva, and urethra. And sex can introduce bacteria to the bladder via the urethra, which can lead to bladder infections. That bacteria may come from hands, saliva, toys… anything that comes into contact with fragile urogenital tissues during sex.
Can oral sex cause a UTI? First of all, UTIs happen in the bladder, but pathogenic bacteria normally ascend up into the bladder via the urethra. In most cases, there are plenty of potentially pathogenic bacteria already present on your genitals.
